Club Update - Tuesday 03/05/2022

Match Results

Big weekend of football and netball for men and women in the red, white and black (with a splash of teal in some cases).

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL

SBL Wolves travelled to Vermont to take on the Eagles in both grades.

The Reserves gave it their best but played a quality outfit with the final score of 11.12.78 to 1.1.7.

Our Seniors were in control most of the day and lead at every break before Vermont kept our girls scoreless in the last quarter to run out victors 6.8.44 to 6.4.40.

MEN'S FOOTBALL

Our U19.5s were gallant against the Basin Saturday afternoon. Whilst the final result didn't go our way, losing 6.7.49 to The Basin 8.11.59, our boys certainly can hold their heads high as it was until the last quarter the Bears got away.

The Reserves were blown away by a quality Basin outfit from start to finish. Plenty to work on for our development group, but will see them improve in the shortcoming. Final score 6.5.41 to 18.9.117.

The Seniors had nine U19.5's promoted to play in the prime time under lights, and the future certainly looks bright! Our boys were relentless against The Basin and just didn't give them any look into the game. Tim Smith and Leigh Odermatt both had 6 goals for the night, in what was the Senior's best win of the season thus far, treating the home crowd to a 21.7.133 to 9.4.58 victory!

Vets - Week off (Need to rest those old bodies)

Note: If you are 35 or over and would like to have a kick of the football, why not join our Veteran's team. Training one night a week on Wednesday @ 6:30 pm and playing every second week (with only 7 games left in the season) is a great way to stay fit and enjoy the game of football on a less serious level.

NETBALL

Unfortunately, our Netballers could keep the momentum going this week, falling short by 10 goals. In front at quarter time, the girls were outscored by the Blues 12 goals to 3 in the second term, and we just couldn't recover. However, the rest of the match was very even.
