South Belgrave FNC senior football captain Liam Kidd has taken out his second EFNL league best and fairest for the second year running winning the Paul Edie Medal.
Kidd has been a critical part of the Saints resurgence to winning the 2019 division three premiership and was leading the club to have another tilt at the title in division two.
Oddly enough, to make the story take an unusual turn, Kidd won the medal due to teammate and gun forward from South Belgrave Tim Smith being ineligible to win the medal, for his one-week suspension during the season for wearing the wrong boot studs.
Smith finished ahead on 11 votes while Kidd totalled 10 votes for the shortened season. Either way, both players were deserving of the award and it capped off a great season even though it wasn't able to be completed.
Final votes are as below:
1st - Tim Smith* – South Belgrave 11 Votes
2nd - Liam Kidd – South Belgrave 10 Votes
3rd - Mitchell Jackson – Ringwood – 9 Votes
3rd - Trent Farmer – Ringwood – 9 Votes
3rd - Josh Adams – The Basin – 9 Votes
