Presidents Message - Friday 16th July 2021

Dear South Belgrave Football Netball Club players, volunteers and members,

I just wanted to touch base and thank you for your resilience and patience as once again the sand dunes move and we slide into another lockdown.

I realise whilst we can easily slip into lockdown mode and get on with it, the toll on our personal and emotional wellbeing is having a different effect on each of us. So, please if you are experiencing mixed thoughts, emotions and/ or frustrations, reach out and speak to someone. This could be just debriefing, blowing off steam or allowing someone to console. As a community, we are all here for each other and need to reach out, help each other and make sure someone doesn’t slip too far.

As you can imagine, football is cancelled this week. At this stage our 5K draw is going ahead for the 7th, however, if things change, we will postpone the date and your tickets will remain valid for the revised date. We are hoping all things will return to some form of normality and we can re-join the ranks, cheer at the feats of our players, gather with our mates and share stories of the days gone and coming.

This is a difficult time and it won’t go away like a feather in the wind, so let’s all stick together, help each other, laugh when we can, shrug when we need to and be thankful we live in a country that is trying to get through this and is not experiencing some of the transmission rates they are.

Please take care, stay safe and remember the great words of Monty python: - “look on the bright side of life”.
